Shawn Carter, 20, is from Owensboro, Kentucky and has been training in boxing, Muay Thai and submission wrestling for four years. Shawn is a student of Kentucky Wesleyan College and trains independently in the basement of his fraternity house…while not the best training conditions Shawn feels it makes him work hard and fight even harder.
“At this time, it’s hard with not having much time or money to support my “wanted” training habits” says Shawn. “Yet someday I hope to compete in the WEC and I would like to thank REVGEAR for being my sponsor and helping me on the way to my dream! Thanks REVGEAR!”
On January 24, 2009, Shawn had his first fight in Fort Campbell, KY. His opponent, hometown fighter Anthony Furhman, was undoubtedly the crowd favorite. In round one most of the time was spent on the ground with Shawn getting the best of the round. The second round started out the same, but a mere 20 seconds in Shawn was able to apply a rear naked choke hold and get a submission for the win!
Congratulations Shawn!!
